Colour and Texture

What is the colour choice in rammed earth?

Coastal Limestone is by far the most popular and is generally readily available throughout the WA coast from most quarries. Further inland more natural gravel colours are available again sourced from local quarries.  We can on occasion provide a blend depending on site location.

Does rammed earth look pebbly?

Reasonably smooth finishes are possible. The ingredients used, together with the placing and ramming techniques employed, determine the colour and texture of the walls. A plaster finish is not desirable.

Can conventional surface treatments be applied to rammed earth walls?

Yes, but generally none are necessary. Unlike standard walls, chipping or scratching Rammed Earth walls does not expose a different material or colour behind the surface. Nor do our walls ever need painting
